Introduction

Hello everyone, my name is Chelsea and I am a sophomore at WVSU. I am majoring in Special Education and Early Elementary. To help my interest in children grow, I work at a daycare in South Charleston during the week. I currently work with one year olds and infants and observing their milestones excited me so much to have my own classroom and reach milestones with my own students!

This September I will be turning 20. I am the oldest of 4. I have two brothers and a sister. The age gaps between us range from 6, 8, 12 years. My younger sister, Madeline, is my world! We are best friends and there is nothing I wouldn't do for her!

Some other random things about me are that I have three animals, a cat named Rocky and two dogs named Bella and Marvel. I also used be in the marching band in high school as a color guard member. Not only that, I danced for 16 years!
                            Marvel
                            Rocky
                             Bella

I'm hoping this course will expand my knowledge with how to use music in my everyday lessons, whether it be now with my children in the daycare, but also with the students who's minds I'll be harvesting in the future!

  1. Hi Chelsea!

I am 12 years older than my sister too. She is 20 and attending WVSU! I also have a sister that is 14 months younger than me, so I got the best of both worlds. Isn't it interesting to watch younger siblings grow up? It's strange because you take both a sibling and parental role.

I love the pictures of your animals! They are adorable. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this course. I love the term "harvesting minds!" It makes you step back and think of both the nurturing process and the ability to let them fly on their own. Nice imagery! Take care!

    1. I believe I know your sister actually. I went to Poca with her and we were in band together! Small world!

  2. Chelsea,
I have 3 brothers and I am the only girl, and how I remember begging for a sister. I also have two children and it is something to see the milestones in a child but seeing it in your own children is very special. I love your animals, so cute.

  3. Chelsea, I love the picture of you and your younger sister! So sweet! Also your animals are adorable! I think its great that you work at a day care. I would absolutely love to do that as well! I think starting this early working with young ones, being an elementary education major is a wonderful thing to do :)

    1. Thank you so much! Finding a way to work with children was something on my priority list before I started my freshmen year at State. I love my job and it really helps me prepare for having my own group of students. (:

  4. Hello, your animals are adorable! I also have a huge age gap with my siblings. Im the oldest and my brother is six years younger and my sister is nine years younger. There is just something about little sisters. There isn't a thing I wouldn't do for mine. She has me wrapped around her finger, she knows it to.
